ReHope’s World Cup Strategy: Mission During Matches

While the world watches the 2026 FIFA World Cup, ReHope is watching something else – the dark undercurrent of human trafficking that shadows global events like this one.

Historically, major sporting events have triggered spikes in trafficking, especially in host cities. With KC preparing to welcome fans from around the world, ReHope is preparing to respond with urgency, compassion and strength.

Our Mission Is Clear.

As matches kick off and the city lights up with celebration, ReHope will be:

• Opening more crisis beds
• Training additional first responders
• Providing safe rides out of danger
• Offering immediate, trauma-informed care
• When a survivor escapes, “no room” is NOT an option

Our Game Plan.

ReHope is already mobilizing teams, preparing shelter and partnering with local law enforcement and community coalitions. Our approach is grounded in reality, not fear, because exploitation thrives in silence, and we refuse to be quiet.

How You Can Help.

• Donate to expand housing, emergency response and survivor care
• Partner with us as a business, church or community group as allies matter
• Refer local resources like: meal providers, transportation volunteers, mental health and wellness services, local college dorms or housing leads for short-term stays
• Train your staff to recognize and respond to trafficking signs – ask us how
