ReHope eNews – June 2024

We are so grateful for your part in helping survivors thrive! Read the latest news about graduations, training, and volunteer efforts.

Two more ReHope survivors have become “thrivers!” They graduated in May from the ReHope program. These women invested years of incredible effort to overcome their trauma and to re-enter society and thrive. One graduate moved into her own apartment not far from ReHope so that she can continue to benefit from our resources.   The other graduate will move back to the South and rejoin her children. She made the sacrifice to leave her kids, come to ReHope, and return home, a far better parent and provider. Thanks for the volunteers, donors, and partners who helped make this graduation possible

ReHope staff recently attended the Missouri Department of Health’s Spring Training Institute held at the Lake of the Ozarks. The Institute provided presentations and workshops to help staff carry out their challenging responsibilities. Training included topics such as trauma, integrated care, and self-care. Staff benefited from the courses and the time away to recoup, refresh, and reconnect with one another:

I loved bonding with my fellow team members and experiencing their level of collective wisdom. I am so grateful to ReHope for investing in my personal development so that I can be the best for myself, each ReHope girl, and for our team.

We are so grateful for the many volunteers who spent days and nights at ReHope Farms so that the staff could get away for this important training and return ready to serve our survivors more effectively.

I had so many take aways! In the end, I am super grateful for the opportunity to feed my “teacher geek” soul and soak in all kinds of learning. I gained resources and deeper understanding of the women at ReHope. I feel more equipped to serve them well.

ReHope could not function without our volunteers who give in so many ways to serve our women, from gardening to spending the night. A recent team from GEHA Insurance company spent a day with the healing arts program and in the garden. Like most of our volunteers, the team received more than they gave, as the contents of their recent email reveal:

We very much appreciate you taking the time to share with us the process and journey many of the women are on, as well as the opportunities that are provided to help them grow, stay safe, become the person they want to be.

Thank you and ReHope for allowing us to visit your wonderful farm. It is such a beautiful place, the amount of work and dedication to the women who live there, and farm itself is very clear.

The saying “It takes a village” is so true and evident by your volunteer staff, full-time staff, caregivers, communities – what a beautiful blessing it is to see. Thank you for the time you give and letting us be a small part of it. We truly enjoyed planting flowers and painting of the birdhouses. I hope all will enjoy for many months to come.

Thank you, all of our loving and faithful volunteers! If you want the same blessing these volunteers received, click to volunteer here.
